At Mystic Congregational Church we strive to create programming and spaces to make families feel welcome and supported. Our goal is to nurture one of God’s greatest gifts - your children - from cradle to college through our Children’s and Youth Ministries. We do this by actively including them in our Sunday worship service, fostering spiritual development through Sunday School featuring lessons specifically designed for elementary and middle school age children, and Confirmation Classes. We also offer the sacrament of baptism in Mystic, CT for all ages.

What to Expect on Sundays
Nursery
Families are invited to visit our professionally staffed nursery room stocked with age-appropriate toys and infant care needs. Free play in a nurturing environment is essential for child and spiritual development. Open from 9:15 a.m. through the close of worship, our nursery is a quiet, welcoming, and safe space for your littlest ones up to age 4.
Family Church Services in Mystic, CT
We believe that children should be seen and heard, especially in church. That’s why we provide worship bags and children’s bulletins to keep younger children engaged. Each worship service includes a “Story for All Ages” when children sit together and participate in an age-appropriate application of the morning’s theme designed for their understanding. Families worship differently. We encourage you to be together in worship in the ways that allow you to be present and to experience God’s presence. No matter the age of your child, worshiping together as a family is a sacred and precious foundation of faith formation.
Sunday School for Grades Pre K - 5
Children through Grade 5 depart for our Sunday School in Mystic, CT following the “Story for All Ages” during worship. Our Sunday School for this age group uses the wonderful Godly Play curriculum, which is rooted in Montessori principles. Each Sunday children examine their faith by listening to a scripturally based story. They then are invited to respond to the story through a combination of wondering questions, play, and crafts to strengthen their spiritual experience. Sunday School for Grades 6 - 8
Middle Schoolers gather with two enthusiastic adults following the “Story for All Ages” during worship. Our middle school class offers opportunities for our young people to connect, build relationships, and deepen their engagement with faith formation. We use the CoLaborate program by Sparkhouse which features short video lessons and facilitated exploration of biblical studies.
